I'M HAVING SHAFT PROBLEMS!!

Post by coffeedrnkr »

My shaft blew up!!

Acutally my real problem is my transfer case never lets go of the front driveshaft (the front axle is disengaged but the front driveshaft never stops spinning) And after i put on my trailmaster it was at so much more of an angle that it ripped the b00t and splurged its grease all over the bottom of my car.

So I have thought of a couple of options:
1. get a custom driveshaft with u-joints at both ends (or have mine modified)
2. Fix the transfer case (the front driveshaft spinning never hurt anything that i know of and never bothered me, and I have no idea how to go about fixing it.)
3. I ran out of ideas but either way it will require some kind of mod to fix the driveshaft or the boot on it.

Can't help you out with your shaft, but I will "poke" fun....

I thought only yankees, yuppies, and women referred to anything with 4 wheels as a car. It's got 4x4, 7 inches of lift and 33's -- call it a truck man!!! Be proud!!!

lol j/k w/ya.

I kind of fixed my shaft problems. Temporarily at least. I removed it  but I better fix it and put it back before I need to tackle my next adventure.

Sorry I call everything a car.
I even call trucks cars.
guess its just a habit, I never classified my blazer as a truck it just didnt "feel" right seeing that it is half the size and all.

If I must I will try to change my ways.

Here are some more pics:

The diamater of the shaft looks so small compared to the universals. I would guess what an 1"- 1 1/2"....I went out and measured the shafts on my atv and they are close to 1 1/8"...

hey i'm just curious is a new front shaft a must have for a lifted crew? i've got a 5in tm on order and just got my 2in bl yesterday but i want to have all my ducks in a row before i put this stuff on. should i plan on going straight to the driveline shop for a new front shaft after the lift is put on or will the stock on get me by for awhile? i don't plan on doing anything off road until next spring when the sand dunes open up here in michigan. the lift is more for looks than anything.
