Calculating shipping costs and related tips.
You will need the city and zipcode for the origin and destination, as well as package length x width x height and weight to calculate and estimate.
It may be cheaper to ship pre-paid, as well as shipping to a business address.

DHL

FYI:
DHL can be a less expensive and quicker way to ship from West to East.
All packages shipped with DHL are air freighted to Ohio for distribution.
Now for someone out west sending to someone in the east, that is great because it can arrive in three days at the standard ground rates.
If you are sending from west to west, it is not as good since it still takes the air flight to Ohio.
Just a tip I picked up from my local shipper

Bag them in a heavy plastic bag or a couple garbage bags. Cardboard is abrasive and can scratch the finish pretty bad. Then a tight fitting box is best. The doubled thickness is a good idea too.

Be sure to remove the center caps when you ship rims. So when UPS decides to use them as hockey pucks the center caps dont poke through the box get scoured, and damage the finish of the rims.. as has happened to me.

Edit: Oh and shipping weight is 21lbs. per rim.

Summit sticks a shipping label on them and wraps tape around it to secure it. That is all.gairbear wrote:What's the best way to ship tires?
I have had many arrive that way via UPS.

For smaller items, I use the US postal service flate rate boxes. They are very easy to use, and you can pick up the boxes for free.
