No, the 10 bolt GM rear is usually listed as either a 7.5" or 7 5/8". I'm not sure what exatly the differences are, other than 1/8" of an inch.

the 10 bolt in the first gens was a 28spline 7.5 10bolt
then the 2nd gens have the 7.625 and i think 28 spline
then the zr2's have the 8.5 30 spline 10bolt

I'm assuming the translation is "Quit beating a dead horse and go blow yourself?"
At least that's what the end of that one looks like to me.

I just measured the drivers side axle shaft on my S-10 Blazer and it was 1.1" but that tenth of an inch might be dirt or my not getting the caliper in there straight. Even with the whole thing stripped down, it was pretty tough to get in there. I don't think the shaft looked that big so I don't think I got an accurate reading but even so, 1" isn't very big.

Are you wanting the ring sizes?BowtieZR5 wrote:back to the post. what are the sizes of our axels? front and rear?
If so it is in the first two posts of this thread.
Front 7.25"
Rear 7.625"
If you are wanting the axle shaft and Half shaft diameters, I don't have that right now.

Actually, I worded my post wrong. I meant to say "half shaft". Without taking the thing apart, I don't know what the axle shaft size is. I do know the front drives aren't very strong on our trucks and won't take too much abuse, especially with larger tires.HenryJ wrote:Are you wanting the ring sizes?BowtieZR5 wrote:back to the post. what are the sizes of our axels? front and rear?

Ok, serious answer. I just pulled the front IFS out from under my '87 S10 Blazer (should be the same) and the right side axle shaft measured 1.13" just inside of the splines. Curiously the left side side was slightly smaller at 1.08". Not sure why.BowtieZR5 wrote:back to the post. what are the sizes of our axels? front and rear?
Oh, and allow me a moment to vent:
MAN, PULLIN' THAT IFS MESS OUT WAS A MAJOR PAIN IN THE ARSE!!!
Ok, venting over. Now resuming normal programming! (and a cold beer)
