Cassette to storage console swap

Post by HenryJ »

I've been wanting to trade my center console for one with the storage tray rather than the little used cassette player console that I have.

Today I found a console at the salvage yard ...$20 :thumb: I modded it for the center powerport and installed it just a little while ago.

The storage tray console has the same rear attachment point, but has one centered stud for the front mount as opposed to the twin studs used by the cassette console.
So I had to drill the dimple and use a self tapping screw to mount the front. "No biggie" pretty easy swap actually.

Now I have a place to stow the camera , stuff and can keep the spare console complete :D

I've seen a lot of the cassette in console setups in s-10's. I guess I got lucky as mine came with cassette and cd in the head unit and full storage tray console. I don't blame you for doing the swap. Having the cassette player down there really wastes valuable space. I would have done the same thing.
