back seat raising 4 sub

Post by castlewalls »

I read somewhere (here I believe) that I would need to put in longer back seat bolts to raise the bench up to add more room for a subwoofer. I finally got around to taking a closer look at mine (2001) and the 4 bolts are part of the body and are protruding horizontally from the rear.
Now, the question (and i haven't yet attempted to disassemble the thing) is does the bench seat have any kind of sliding panels/latches/bars under the front that hook into same on the floor?

I can see putting about 0.5 inches worth of washers on the four rear bolts and just still have enough room for the nut to reasonably catch enough threads, but what about under the front of the bench seat? Will it slide out (if not bolted somehow) too far to catch on whatever's holding it there?

You will find two bolts under carpet tabs that hold in the bottom seat. You will have to get longer bolts to move it forward. The seat belts will also need to be spaced out ...Why do you need to move the seat forward. The first cabinet that I built for my crew had a Kicker Comp VR 8 in it and I did not have to move anything.

seat

Because, as far as I can tell, the surround on the flush mtd spkr hits the back of the seat (it protrudes about 0.25" past the spkr frame), even after I took off an additional 0.25" from the back of the spkr cabnet.

The fabric on the back of the seat isn't very tight & the seat back looks a bit convex bowed, it's not a straight back. Hence the need to move the seat forward a bit....
