FAQ for squeaking rear brakes

Post by Conman »

Just an FYI.

I had a slight squeal when the brakes were warm. I took the Crew in for 6k service and asked them to look at it. They said the rotors were glazed so they were both replaced under warranty. Just seems kind of odd since I drive so little. I do use my parking brake so maybe it was adjusted wrong from the factory and dragging still.

Do you use the spray on brake cleaner? I used to use that stuff and that glazed the rotors on my old mustang I used to have.

I have not used anything on the truck. Since I bought it new and it's still under warranty, there is no reason I should use those things. Only good reason to buy new as you can bring it in for something like this and get new rotors! :) But the downfall is that I already paid for the rotors in resale value anyway. :(

Also a good reason to bring your vehicle to the dealer for regular maintainance. I don't think I would have brought it in just for some slightly squeaking brakes. Plus prices for regular maint. like oil changes are right inline for those quick lube places anyway and it builds a good relationship with your dealer when you do have a major problem.

Cheers,

I had same issue with mine. less than 6k on it -- Dealer resurfaced rotors. Not uncommon.

It appears I have a squeak again and it's been only about 500miles. I'm not sure if it's the front now. I'll have to have the front checked now.

Will let you know.
