Someone slap me.... This must be heaven

Post by BadChad »

Wow.... the wealth of knowledge here.

I am so glad to have stumbled onto such a great site. I have poked around at some of the member’s rigs and all I can say is... where the hell do I start?

I have a 2003 Chevy Crew cab. She is nearing the end of warranty and I think it is time to lift and exhale. I don't want anything too radical but would like the tough look. I haven't lifted anything since my 78 Blazer about 18 years ago. Crap, did I just give away my age…

I have searched for lift kits and all forms of modifications from the many name brand companies but have found nothing for the 03 crew cabs. And after seeing all your guy’s awesome looking trucks I know something is out there.

Would anyone like to clue me in? I am thinking maybe 4 inches of lift.

Thanks,
Chad

As the resident red-headed-stepchild of the forum (I own a blazer and just won't go away) welcome to the board!

You have a couple of options for what you are wanting to do, and most of it is going to come down to decisions on your part.

Lots of us are running a 2 inch bodylift from Performance Accessories, along with either the Boise spring works rear spring pack or Daystar Shackles
for the front end a mild crank on the torsion bars usually gets everything adjusted to satisfaction on ride attitude.

At this height you can run a 30x9.5 or 31x10.50 on the stock rims without too much trouble, although with the 31" you will find some rubbing--usually on the frame or front rollbar. If you go to aftermarket wheels and the 31"s you may end up having to cut out the fenders some. near the rear bottom on the front.

Make sure you check out the Mod Page for a lot of your answers to the most common modifications most of us have done.

Your other option for lift is the Trailmaster 5 inch kit, which happens to be on Quickbiker's truck, and he's beaten the snot out of it and it's held up for the most part - Quickbiker's Page

Superlift is working on a lift as we speak, the truck is in their shop under the knife. We hope to know more soon, as the truck's owner posts here some. I can't link you anywhere for that yet. **Warning - superlift does make a 2 inch kit for the s-10 that will fit on your truck -- avoid it like the plague -- just research the superlift/rough country 2 inch lift on any s10 4x4 forum and you'll understand** I'm not going to bother linking you to one of those :-)

Welcome again!

Chad,
welcome to the site.
so did you get the full size spare?
others didnt in there post 2002 models :P
yes, he is correct. there isnt really any lifts to actually choose from. as of right now, there is 1 body lift and 1 suspension lift. both will be needed to ever think of doing 33's. and this is what i recommend you do cuz it will look very cool 8)

Oh yea.... the optional full size spare matches the one I carry above my belt.

Lets see, mine is fully loaded, all the bells and whistles minus leather. The only thing I didn't do that I kick myself in the ass for it not getting the ZR5 package.

Hey, welcome to the board Chad! Don't worry about giving away your age either. My first 4x4 was a '53 Willy's Jeep! Oh, and I know about the spare tire too!
