Okay folks, Can someone tell me what the difference is between helper springs and add a leaf kits One of my co-workers told me that the helper springs increase the vehicles level load carrying capacity but doesn't give any added height in the rear as compared to the AAL kits. He claims the Add a leaf kits are a much more harsh ride than the helper springs in comparison when the vehicle is unloaded. Is this true? Do they make helper springs for our trucks? If they do make helper springs for our trucks, which one is better for light to medium hauling and towing? I apologize if these questions have already been asked. Thanks in advance.

Helper springs clamp on to your existing spring pack and can have a harsh ride depending on the spring and how tight you adjust it.
AAL can be the same, one leaf , heavily arched, and stiff can be harsh.
Multiple leaves are better , IMO. Weight is spread through out the pack evenly, the springs are more progressive.
EDIT: I forgot Steven's write-up on the Leaf Helper Spring
