All this electronic stuff, the days of the backyard mechanic are long gone....
The TechII is primarilly a "dealer" tool , thought it would be possible to purchase one, if you
really want one. Pretty penny sums it up alright, about $3500 when I was checking into it.
The electronics are both good and bad. It forces you to buy electronics , to diagnose electronics.
It is nice to be able to just plug it in and have the vehicle tell you what is wrong , or about to go bad. Saves some time trouble shooting.
I don't have a majority of OBDII rigs in the fleet yet, so don't really have a feel for just how helpful all this will be on an aging vehicle. I still think that good trouble shooting skills , and common sense will take you a long way.
