Dumb Question (about Brushguard)

Post by jayall23 »

Noticed a brush guard for sell in my local paper for a s10. I called the guy and he said it came off of his 01 ex-cab, I told him I have a crew and he said it would not fit the crew, said mounting is different. Is this true cause I've never heard of that before.

What kind of brushguard?
There may be differences in the bumper "profile" The excab may not have the rubber strip around the bumper, different valance, etc.

The mounting points should be the same though.

The brush guard I have on my '02 Crew was listed by Manik as early '90 something to 2002 S-10 pickup, period (I've long since ditched the instructions, etc). No mention of body style other than that, so I would have to say there shouldn't be any difference between the CrewCabs and the other S-10's, at least not as far as Manik is concerned.

If his truck was a ZR2 X-cab the mounting points might be different too

True a ZR2 could make a difference since it is a different frame.

I wouldn't bet on that , the measurements are all the same for the front part of the frame and mount using tow hook , core support or shield mounts. all of which interchange.

The guy told me that it was a smittybilt outlander (I think he meant outland I can't find an outlander) but I dont see what the difference would be. His truck is an 01 ex-cab not a zr, mine is a 01 cc.

I wasn't sure what parts were different.

Then it should fit -- if it's cheaper from him than from www.sportztrailers.com or ebay -- then pick it up. At least you get to go look at it before handing cash over.

the zr2 is wider, on gowarn.com they ask if your truck is a zr2 or a regular
