Bent rim or bent axle?

Bent rim or bent axle?
For the last couple weeks, I've had this "out of balance tire" sound on my truck. I didn't really think much about it because with the off-roading I do, a tire out of balance wouldn't surprise me. But today I was backing out of the drive and looking in the side mirror and noticed that the left rear wheel isn't spinning straight. Would this be a sign of just a bent rim or would a bent axle make the wheel wobble too?
I hope it's just a bent rim cause then I'll have an excuse to get a matching rim for my spare.

That doesn't help much.a2b wrote:uh oh
Neither possibility really worries me. Bent axle is covered under warranty, and a new rim is only about $40.

i think.......you are going so fast in reverse that it just looks like its bending when its actually warping from the instense centrifugal force that is being applied to it by your FOOT

I would take the rim to get checked first. Your rims have more of an offset so you could have bent it. Let's start with that first.

Well...I just got home a little while ago and took off the wheel. It seems to be fine. I went ahead and rotated the tires too and the "out of balance" noise is gone. Spacers were good and tight.
I watched the wheel almost the whole way home (except when I had to watch the road ) and I think it was just uneven pavement that made it look like the wheel wobbled. That combined with a dirt spot on the tire made it seem like it was wobbling.
Oh well...all seems OK now!

Re: Bent rim or bent axle?
Hmm, I've noticed my wheels spin in circles. I'd be concerned if they started spinning straight. Was there alcohol involved last night? It could be your wheel is fine and your head is wobbling.AZS10Crew wrote:......noticed that the left rear wheel isn't spinning straight.
