Fuel Filter replacement problems

Post by ESOX »

Does anyone know a little trick to getting the fuel filter out of the bracket? I have pushed, pulled, WD40'd, Brake cleaner . The little sucker wont move. :x Also does anyone know the GM part number for a new one(Bracket) it might just be easier to buy a new one. Buy the way I got 93K before I needed to change it.

93k is just a little over the recommended service interval  ;)

Try taking the bracket loose from the frame. That should be enough to free it up.

I had the same problem with mine and I could not get to the bolts to remove it from the frame rail, a rear brake line was running right over the top of one of the bolts. I sprayed the filter with break free and used a set of channel locks one jaw on the edge of the filter and one on the bracket and just squeezed it out. The new one was coated in break free and slipped right back in without having to use any persuasion.

Mine didn't want to slide out either and I had the bolt off of mine. The channel lock pliers is a good suggestion. :thumb:
