Crack in the Windsheild

Post by BobbleSmitty »

So my friend pointed out to me today that I had a crack in my windsheild. I wash my truck like everyother day and I have never noticed it before. The crack begins by the VIN on the driverside beneath the plastic covering thing there by the windsheild wipers. It is probably about 4 inches long. There is no chip from any stones or anything and I haven't been on the freeway for more than a week. I didn't notice the crack when I washed my windows a few days ago. I drive to work 2 miles away on main suburban roads 35mph. Theres no way a stone or anything could have been shot up at my truck from a big truck or anything and besides, I would have heard it. Plus, the crack starts below that plastic covering thing and travels upward. How could it have happened??? Is it possible to have the windsheild either fixed or replaced under warranty?? Let me know what you guys think???

I took it up to the dealership today and they figured that it was caused by a stress point either in the glass or the frame around it. They went ahead and ordered me a new windshield and will have a glass company come out and install it for me at the dealership free of charge. So it was covered completely under warranty! That made my day!

Very sweet, Bob! I'm glad that your dealership was willing to work with you and treat you like a customer should be treated! That's the FIRST good story I've heard about a GM dealership in a while. Thanks for posting!!!

Well, they did get a brand new service manager up there, so I'm really happy about that, but I also think that it helped that I had my dad with me. (He's worked for GM for over 30 yrs) The old manager up there was terrible. I had written letters to GM about her and how she treated me. Maybe that helped, who knows?? But I'm glad that she's gone!

I took my truck into the dealership this morning around 7:30. I told him that I needed a car to get to work, even though it's my half day off of work. So they give me a Chevy Equinox LT... It has leather, XM radio, Onstar, power/heated seats, power sunroof, Trac Off button... Yea, the trac off button is the best thing on that car :) I had a little bit of fun with it...It spins the front tires pretty good! I took it for a ride out to the country today and went thru a little bit more than a quarter of the tank. It's their gas, why not use it?? :) But all in all, that car is pretty sharp and its a very nice, smooth ride.

I also had them look at a few other things while my truck was in the shop, so we'll see if they fix it right?? But as of right now, it looks like I'll be keeping the Equinox overnight b/c they still haven't called me yet.
