Gas Tank mounting strap
As I was driving today, I heard this big clunk and then a bunch of 'metal rubbing metal' type noise. Turns out, one of my straps that hold the gas tank in place came undone and was rubbing along the driveshaft. I was about to pass the dealership another mile up the road, so I pulled right into the service dept. and they took it in and gave me a Malibu Maxx. All I can say is to just double check to make sure your bolts are nice and tight for those straps... I had the truck in for service not too long ago to fix the fluctuating fuel gauge. They took off the gas tank to replace the fuel sending unit. So, if it weren't for our trusty service dept. people, I don't think I would have had this problem. I also told them to fix the wipers while they were working on my truck. I'll keep you guys posted about the wipers problem and what they do to fix it.

The one strap that travels underneath the gas tank turns out to be something that has to do with the "Parking Brake Shoe" and it says on the invoice "broken clip." That was fixed, but the wiper problem has yet to be resolved. Even though I brought it in and showed them when the wipers didn't park into the correct position, they couldn't do anything about it. Does anyone have the 800 # to call GM direct about issues such as this??

Start keeping all paperwork, make notes of dates, names, comments and witnesses if, applicable.
Write down all of the details the first chance after the fact. I know you will think that you can remember all that stuff but, two yrs from now will be a different matter. Trust me on this one as an old cop. Nothing is worse than to have something come up a year or five years after what you thought was minor incident at the time and your mind is now in a fog.
Follow the steps in your owners manual for customer complaints. If you have do not have a manual then register with www.mygmlink.com and download one. I do not think they have a fix for the wiper issue but, will not admit it. I have the same issue.
Document your issues in snail mail to Detroit. The will assign you a case number and you will get a phone call to start the ball rolling. Pray that you do not get a representative who's first name is "Rolanda"

Yea, I've been keeping track of everything, I mean everything from how I was treated and what and what not was fixed, in a file. I also keep all of the invoices in a file. I'm going to contact a GM rep tomorrow by phone. Thanks for the advice.

Just my 2 cents but I would write your concerns down on paper and use snail mail first. cc it tp GM but, address it to your dealer.
