Ready to do something drastic...(insulation)

Okay guys, I'm begining to wonder about our trucks. This is the hottest vehicle I've ever been associated with. I'm talking about the cab temperature.I'm wondering what kind of insulation they did or didn't used under this thin carpet they installed in the truck.

I'm thinking about stripping the whole truck out, and either spraying in or laying in some form of insulation to try and isolate me from the heat.

I know the cat converter is just under the passenger seat where that big hump in the floorboard is and those things are like extremely hot.

My question to you all is, does your cab seem to be excessively hot with all controls off.

I've done the retro...that HenryJ told us about, that stopped the hot feet syndrome, but now it seems there's heat everywhere.

I would like to cruise around when the weather is nice, with windows down and enjoy the ride, without having to run the AC just to be comfortable. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Try a 89 Trooper with no AC and the Cat under the drivers seat! As for the Crew, I don't think it's hotter than any other vehicle but then again I'm in the north so there is not many 100+ degree days here. On the older s10s, they use to have a manual vent under the dash to allow outside air in. Too bad we don't have that now. There appears to be a fair amount of insulation in the truck, but then again, we have a big engine close to the firewall.



BTW, I thought the hump on the pass. side was for the transfer case?

I'm with you on adding insulation to the whole cab.

I plan to use the same "bubble pack foil insulation" that I installed under the headliner



I'll probably just add a little at a time, headliner (done) , doors, rear cab wall , firewall/floorboards
