Gas Tank Replacement
I've been dealing with some evap codes relating to the gas tank....found the gasket on the cap dry and cracked......so I'm hoping it's an easy one.
But, in all the research I have been looking into, it seems no one sells replacement tanks? Is that possible? I've heard about some plastic replacement tanks but can't seem to locate them either.
Anyone have a source, just in case?

Re: Gas Tank Replacement
That link brings me to a stock tank, unfortunately it's the crew cab tank that I might need, and it seems they are scarce as hen's teeth.
The guy I use to do complex mechanical things says he cannot find one "new"....that my best bet is to check junkyards?

I tried chatting to a customer service rep, he pointed me to the same tank, but I know that's not the crew cab tank

Re: Gas Tank Replacement
The tank is buried up in the body near the actual fuel door, instead of between the frame rails.
Henry, thanks for the link..........it takes an experience junky pro to know stuff like this.
I actually got a quote from a dealer for the tank......new......$586 dollars, and they would order it......it "might" be in in a couple weeks!
Junque yard here I come!

Re: Gas Tank Replacement
I would check ebay. When my suburbans sending unit rotted out, along with that whole portion of the gas tank I went on Ebay and found a company in Cali that build replacement stainless steel powder-coated tanks. They had them for hundreds of light trucks and SUVs. I picked up a 45 gallon suburban tank with everything but the fuel pump, sending unit sensors everything for just over $300 shipped. It was also 5 more gallons than stock.
