Well went to roll the drivers window down, went half way and that was it, tried to put it back up , no go, took it apart, looked good, motor thumped when button was pushed, so , I pulled up on the window, felt it move a bit, hit the button , up the window went, repeated it several times, same result.
Went on line to s10 warehouse, found a window motor, came in the mail next day.
Drilled out the rivets, replace them with bolts that I ground down on the grinder, installed new motor , works great...longest part of the job was the bolts, but thought I would do it that way just in case the motor turned out not to last.
Price of the motor was 31.00 thats including shipping. [/code]

Mine has occasionally stopped on the way up. I try it again and it goes up.
I see NAPA sells replacements. I'll have to see if they are competitive.
Be sure to let us know if this solves your problem long term.
Did you clean or lube anything while you were in there?

The price is good on that motor (about $13 cheaper than anyone else), but it won't fit 84-05, maybe 94-05.Jigg wrote:Fixed mine a week or so ago with this.
I just replaced both window motors on my 88 S10 the other day and they look completely different than the one you have pictured.
Mine looked like this.
That is a new Cardone window motor for 1st gen S10's with lifetime warranty for $40 from Kragen.

I've had the same type of problems out of my windows as Brule. When my drivers side window stops moving, the other three won't move either. I've wondered if there is a circuit breaker somewhere in the wiring. Any thoughts on this?

I recently found out that a bad ground can cause the windows to work intermittently.
On my 88 I had a ground wire (for the drivers side lock solenoid and window motor) corrode on the inside which caused the windows on both sides to work intermittently.
I cut out the bad section of wire and replaced it and the problems went away on both sides.
I didn't figure this out until I replaced both window motors with new ones.
At least I have good motors on both sides now, but still it was kind of a waste of money when the ground wire was the problem all along.
I think it is kind of stupid that GM designed the ground system this way because if one motor shorts out or 1 ground wire is bad then both windows are affected.

windows and grounds
This isn't really related, but as for grounds, they can truely destroy a car. Bad engine straps are often responsible for front wheel bearings failing , true..have found this one out first hand experance.
In my case the motor had a gear broken...sorry it has taken me so long to reply, but had number 4 grandchild, (boy) born and had to put 1000 plus mile on the truck getting there, and check this out, 23plus mpg on the interstate, I75 and I10, did keep it around 70-75, couldn't ask for better mpg numbers....
