Squeeling coming from engine when it rains

Post by BobbleSmitty »

Everytime it rains, for the first 5 minutes of driving, my truck squeels and it is very annoying! The dealer installed a new belt no more than 3000 miles ago. Could it be pullies? Could it not be tight enough? Is it too tight? I am out of warranty now, so I gotta fix this one myself.

You might need a new belt tensioner, but I don't understand why it would do it only when it rains since the belt shouldn't be getting wet anyway. :?

Maybe something is wrong with one of the accessories (PS pump, alternator, or AC compressor) causing it to squeal when it's cold and then goes away when it warms up?

Try isolating the problem by checking for sounds under the hood when you first start it up.

The belt should be ok if it only has 3k miles on it, but it wouldn't hurt to get a Goodyear Gatorback belt since they are more efficient and don't slip because of the teeth they have.

I have one on all of my vehicles and none of them have ever squealed.
