It's a Stock Crew - Trails in Ohio
Okay...so, I've been reading all of these posts of you guys taking your crews offroad...and I'm REALLY starting to get the itch to try it in mine.
So...the question is this...does anyone know of a place in Southern Ohio where I can take my basically bone stock truck off road and NOT break it? Someplace where I can get my feet wet only in the metaphorical sense, as it were. Someplace where I can give the offroad thing a try without having to worry about scratching up my pretty black paint....
Mud, I don't have a problem with. Permanent, fender-altering, body damage, I DO have a problem with. At least until my warranty runs out!

You should get a ranchhand welded combo front bumper/grill guard. I know a guy who lives out in the country and moves cattle for a living - he goes through about 3 or 4 a year bouncing deer off of it!!!

$1200.00 damage to the front of my truck. And you'd have to look really hard to even see it!
So...all bets are off. I'm thinkin' about giving rock crawling a try this weekend!
The Deer are the biggest reason I put a grill guard (push bar, roo bar, whatever you call it) on my truck. That and a lot of angle iron reinforcement for the guard. I had a very near miss with a big buck last november and decided I needed it.

Hon!! I REALLY need a grill guard for my truck. You know...for the deer and stuff. And a lift kit, and some new wheels,and...you know...for the deer and stuff....
Well, you really need the lift kit for the deer. After you hit and kill the thing with the grill guard, you need to make sure you have the height to clear the carcas so you don't damage anything underneath! Yeah, that sounds right! Hmm, wonder if my wife will buy that as an excuse to get that TM 5" KIT?
I sure am glad to hear I'm not the only one having trouble getting money out of their Chief Financial Officer for truck stuff!!
I guess I would have felt better about sacrificing the front of my truck in order to justify getting more "truck stuff" if I could have put some venison in the freezer. But, the dang deer just jumped up and ran away! Maybe if I had the 5" lift he wouldn't have rolled up the hood and off of the roof....
