Information please? (What to look out for when buying)

Post by MacDaddy »

I am in the market for one of these great looking trucks and have found a 2002 sonoma with all the bells and whistles. Is there anything i should be careful of when looking it over? Any information would be helpful. I don't know much about them. thanks.

hmm...

ZR5? Any mods? mileage?

If it's still all stock, it's WAY overdue for shocks and tune-up and probably brakes depending on mileage. Several have had CV boot issues but more often after mods (like lifts, t-bar adjustment, after market rims, etc.)

The more info you can provide the better we can provide insight.

Good Luck and welcome aboard

i just bought a 2002 about 5 months ago, problems that i had/have that you should look for, front suspension (ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arm, pitman arm), my heater core has a leak (you will hear a gurgelling sound behind the dash, especially when accelerating), also check if all the a/c and heating controls work, and if air comes out the vents at all times (read transfer case switch thread)

Thanks for the reply's. Its a crewcab 62000 miles no mod's. I haven't had a chance to look at it up close the pictures look good. The front end is what i am worried about. I don't want to buy then have to replace everything.
Thanks

i would still have bought mine even with the front end basically shot, i got all the parts cheap from ebay, and the repairs are a good bargaining tool when you make an offer.
