How rare are these vehicles?
I only ask because mine is the only one I've ever seen & before I bought it I didn't even know they existed.
In fact, if the salesmen at the Nissan dealer across the road from the Chevy dealer had a been a bit quicker I probably still wouldn't know they existed...
Yanno how it is, ya don't notice certain vehicles until ya buy one, then you see them everywhere? Well I bought one & am beginning to think I have the only one in a town of 300,000 people...

I see one about every 2 weeks and I watch for em. I walked out of the store once and found 2 guys walking around it and they ask me if I had it built. I like having something different.

I thought that when they came out originally in 2001 , that they were only available to the dealers in the Northwest.
I seem to remember some sort of a "test market thing" ? Later that year , I think they became available in limited numbers to the rest of the US.
BTW- Crew Cabs are rare

I see a different one every other week or so... I was hauling a load of mulch this past week and I looked over next to me and there was another ZR5, but it was a GMC. I look over at him and he gave me the thumbs up! I returned the favor! Seems most people driving the crew cabs know that they have something unique!

we have a few down here, i know what you mean, i was at fairfield ford looking at dakotas and sport trac's and came accross this s-10 that i have never seen before, 32k miles for 10 grand was a fast seller for me, since then i have seen them all over the road, mostly used for work trucks.
Every time i pull into a dealer lot, salesmen swarm me and ask questions like, How do you like it, how much was it, ill give you good money for it and get you into this and that.... like they never seen anything like it before.

This is odd, guy I known for a few years that in the drummer in a friends band now tells me he has one identical to mine... I also know his day job is in the porn industry so if I get some hot looking women wave at me around Van Nuys & Chatsworth I'll know why... LOL!!

Let's not forget Border Man who has a '00 non-ZR5 CC that came without rear flares
That has got to be the rarest of them all. He added a roof rack from an abandoned Blazer he found in the desert (I am sure he removed it during his lunch break ) and he attained and mounted ZR5 flares on his crew. Truly a one of a kind

There is like 5-6 cc in my town of 18,000 people. Don't know if having a GM powertrain plant has anything to do with it or not though. I've seen a black, green, and red s-10, AND a green and two red sonomas (counting mine) here. Mine has a white pin stripe (which is coming off ) the other red sonoma cc does not have one. I do believe though mine is the only one with visible mods.

Ok, seen another one! Was just dropping my kid off at school (100yards away so was on foot) & saw a woman driving a dark blue S10 CC, not a ZR5 tho. Are they all 4x4's or just the ZR5's?

All S-10 cc's that I know of are 4x4. I have a 2001, which was the first year they were available in the US. In 02 they added the zr5 option package.
In the town I work in, I know of 5. Two with the zr5 option and 3 without. All but one are driven by old women and a very old man. scary.....

mine has the "N90" wheel code, but its not the one in your pic.f9k9 wrote:Has anyone else seen a GMC CC with other than N90 or ZR5 stock wheels?
mine is the common Sonoma/Jimmy 4WD 18 spoke (6 thick spokes, 12 thin ones), with the flat cener caps. i think the wheel in your pic. became the std. wheel in 02, maybe 03. not sure.

Yours sounds more like what I have been seeing here. I couldn't guesstimate how many are around here but, the majority are owned by older people but, the rest are younger guys. One blue ZR5 has aftermarket tail lights but, nothing else noticeable from a distance.

Yep, they are popular around the northern panhandle of WV too. There's two other here at work with one, and several around town, and two that are lifted ( a light blue one and a dark blue one).

Pulled up at a stop light yesterday next to basically an unaltered black CC....Only noticable changes was he had a Goodmark hood, tanneau cover, and tinted windows. He also had a white pin stripe down the side. I aslo couldn't tell if he had switched to the clear corners or not. He seemed to like my truck as it seemed he was talking to someone in the back seat and pointing at my CC.

There are a just a few around in Peoria, Il. I see 1 or two a month. The only other black one has the same pinstripe as mine and added a topper (cap) about a month after I did. I still have the ZR5 wheels that he doesn't though.
Now I did have a neighbor come over and ask me how I liked my Suburban because he was thinking about getting one.... He is not the only one that has mistaken it a much bigger vehicle that what it is since I put on matching black topper.

I thought of this thread last night in the AutoZone parking lot. Two ZR2's, and two ZR5's there at one time. One ZR2 looked to be the original made, at least a 95 model, and I can't even verify the stickers are correct. The other was a nice '98+ unit with what looked like a mild lift. The ZR5's (mine included) looked bone stock.

I always get a kick out of seeing them in my town too. Mines the coolest I like being different. Better than the dime a dozen Colorados where someone misspalaced a cylinder .

Tell me about rare it or not. Believe it or not I live in 5 000 000 people city and Iv seen only one S-10 except mine. It was 01 white reg. cab staying for over year in car market no sells. I think that’s all for S-10 in this city. I bought mine 00 Ext.cab 4x4 grey metallic with 58 k. miles for ~$10500 last year. So over here it’s a really really rare vehicle – its good and bad fact in the same time.
Hi, New here. I have a 02 Noma CC that I just got first of Oct. $14,990 with 34k on it. Loaded interior. I've only seen 2 cc like it so far. One was a s-10cc (work truck) Other was a black s-10. By the way I had a noma ex-cab 01. ZQ8 for 6 years till a toyota totaled it. Love this cc though. Only put a soft cover on it so far. But more mods to come.
2002 Sonoma crew cab. Mod air box. drop in K&N air filter , Tonneau cover. Bug deflector, vent guards. Step rail next!

Picked up my CC 6 weeks ago (2002 ZR5 with a hard tonneau, Westin pushbar, 255-70R15's for $13,995. Just short of 40000 miles. The dealer had it in their clearance area (been sitting on the lot about 6 weeks that I can remember).
Been wanting one of these since they came out in Brazil and an article stated that Chevy was putting SBC's in them in Brazil. Just our lousy luck. EPA and all the tree huggers made them put in the 4.3 . Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty good engine for what it's designed to do, BUT a built 383 would be hell on wheels ('specially in sleeper mode.) in this thing.

I live in South Jersey, just a few miles from Philly, and I've had my CC for about a year and a 1/2. I've seen a CC maybe twice in that time. And thats OK with me...we're unique
2003 crewcab-flowmaster muffler w/dual exhaust and 12" stainless steel tips, cold air intake, color matched bug deflector, LED taillights, Lund tri-fold tonneau, projector foglights, clear corner lights, neft bars, billet grill, Huskey floor mats, molded mud flaps and a Hunter Grill guard. Mods for next years budget...2" body lift, fender flairs, bigger wheels and tires, CB radio.
I live in Glen Burnie, Md. (BTWN Balt & Annapolis) and in the 6 weeks I've had my CC, I've seen 2 Indigo Blues, a Red, a yellow, and a Black. Only the black one was a ZR5. And most of them were driven by 40-50ish females. The Red one was driven by an "OLDER"( 70+) guy...(I'm 52). Bads crew lives about 20 miles from me on the other side of Baltimore, and I didn't count his.
I occasionally see one in the used car lots on the main drag down here.....usually last about a month on the lot and then gone.
Just from casual observation the1994-2005 S-10 breakdown in my area looks like...
2wd p/u = 20's and slammed(lining with mom & dad, pay no rent and put all their $$$ into truck) or work trucks
4wd p/u =late 20's to mid 30'sSingle or married (minor cosmetic mods...the guy that are married.... CinChouse(*) holds the $$$$$$) or work trucks.
2&4wd blazers = late 20's to early 40's couples with kids. Usually just rims and upgrade tires. Occasionally see and older (60-70+) driving a 4dr4x4)(Dad falls in this catagory)
Extended cabs 2&4wd = Work trucks or mid late 20's to mid 30's singles or couples.
CREWCABS = 40's to 70's year olds that want a small truck with capability to haul grandkids around and get decent mileage while doing it and don't have a need for a 3500/F#%$^$ old re-cycled Desoto/Damn Old Dirty Gas Eater. Or couple with grown kids, no grandkids, that go Trailering with a substantially smaller trailer than when the kids were around. And use the truck to go out with other couples as the other car is too small for 3 much less 4 full size adults.
(*) CinCHouse = Commander in Chief / House. Wife/Girlfriend/Mom. Although most of us CANNOT nor WILL NOT ADMIT IT, she rules the roost. We get the garage, driveway, and the outside. Everything inside the front door is her domain....."Oh NO YOU DIDN'T just throw that greasy shirt in my CLEAN WASHING MACHINE. Take that Filthy thing outside and wash it first. And while your at it, use the hose and take a bath in the garage BEFORE you step in this house and take a shower!" "I WON'T have this house smelling like the inside of a gas station!"

Yes your not far from me, in fact I purchased my truck at Tate BMW in Annapolis. I know of 4 other S-Crews that I see daily. It sounds like you have a real Baltimore girl there.

The interchange also lists the N90 w/ZR5 option for chevrolet and GMC. Color is the difference there.

You're not alone....we got 'em down here in Middle Tennessee also!!
I also see 2-3 CC a week driving around. Haven't been able to be stopped at same spot as another to strike up a conversation yet though... From glancing at them as I drive by, most seem to be stock with very few if any really noticible mods(ie BL, BIG tires, light bars, etc..)

Re: How rare are these vehicles?
I live in a town of 10,000 and I've seen two (including mine), but I know what you mean. A lot of s10s, but not a lot of crew cabs. If crew cabs were rare, they wouldn't have their own forum.

Re: How rare are these vehicles?
i have only seen 2 on the road and 1 parked down the street from where i just moved into.
mine is the only sonoma ive seen though, so when i saw it on craigslist i knew i had to have it! lol
its cool when driving down the road because most people never knew they mad the s-series in crew cab form, its funny when an s-10 or sonoma passes me then i see them do a double take. lol.
ive only had my cc for a couple months and i already have had a note left on my door from some guy wanting to buy it. but no way in hell would i give up my sonoma cc.

I've seen maybe ten CC in Edmonton. More keep popping up. More S10's than Sonoma's. Love my Sonoma.
