Shattered rear Slider
I was driving down a city street last night, with the windows up and the AC on. My rear slider, just the part that moves, shattered and exploded all over the rear seat!!!!
I would have thought it was some one with a bb gun shot it or some kind of bizarre fire works accident but I have a topper. There is no way to get at the glass from the outside! All the other cab windows were up and all the topper windows are fine. It wasn't that hot outside so I don't think it was a temperature difference between in and out.
Has anyone had this happen to them?

I've seen the same thing happen with cold water on stones surrounding a camp fire. Exploding rocks ain't funbarch97 wrote:I had a glass top patio table do that once. I don't know the actual science behind it but I think it has to do with temperature and humidity. Like pouring cold tap water into a hot coffee pot.

AHHHHH I just called the local glass shop. I was expecting $100 - $200 to replace the glass. Thats what it was on my last full size chevy to go from a solid rear window to a slider.
$750 for the non tinted and $1000 for the Tinted. Only available from Chevy!!!!

How 'bout a way cool "power" slider for 1/2 that?
or the plain old manual one for $176.95 + $15.00?
*Edit: Here's the number for customer service (800) 352-5657

Are we sure that the crew cab is not different from the normal or extended cab? The glass shop is telling me they have a different part number between the normal cab and the crew cab.

Here's the manufacturer's page on it.
there's a customer service number at the bottom... (800)421-6144

I pushed a little harder at the glass co with the above info. They magically found a cross reference and came up with the same part number as the above links.
There price was 11 cents higher than the web. Insurance was going to cover it either way but its nice to find something a little cheaper.
Thanks for your help.
Now I’m wondering if their plan all along was to quote the OEM one and install the aftermarket one….. hummmmm

I would do what Jeff024 said call around or go to truck equipment place.
We have a Monroe truck equipment that sell's manual or power slider's. That just over the border in Wisconsin. I would go with the power slider glass
