Blazer 1996 Model, V-6 vortec , PCV valve

Anyone who could help me in explaining as what is the function of the PSV valve in my truck. Secondly shall be greatful if the exact location could be identified with pics, as i may need it to clean it up.

The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve maintains negative pressure inside the engine.
Located on the valve cover, one side has a breather tube the other has the valve.
