Hey folks,
I need some help from the Guru's. My CC has been making a "gurgling sound" for awhile, this morning on the way to work, the heater control would not change from defrost to heat on the feet. I do my best to keep up on the posts and have a feeling that when I get the chance (this weekend), I am going to find Dextron III in my HVAC vacuum lines. I dont have a service manual, and cant find a Helms or Chilton for S-10's newer than 1999. My truck has ran out of warrenty, so this repair is going to be on my dime. Can anyone give me the breakdown of what is going to need to be repaired and replaced.
THanks in advance,
Jeff

I don't know about the HVAC controls but mine is making that "gurgling sound" too and has done it before. Everytime mine makes the sound, I check the level in the radiator and it's low. Not low enough to cause overheating but apparently enough to cause bubbles in the system which I'm guessing causes the gurgling noise I hear. I top up the radiator and the sound goes away. What I can't figure out is where the coolant is going. I can sometimes smell antifreeze after the truck has been running so I know there has to be a leak somewhere but can never see a leak or any puddles under the truck. Anyway, try checking your coolant level and see if it's low or not. If it's full, it might be something different from mine but that's all I can think of.
This happened to me, I took it to get repaired under warrenty. Pretty much all of my friends work in the service area and they explained it to me in dummy terms. All I remember is that they replaced the control board on the dash, which wasnt the problem, then they replaced the vacuum switch in the transfer case and that fixed it.
