So the "golden rule" for oil changes is 3 months/3,000 miles.

I don't change mind till I hit 3,000 miles.

Example I did my last oil change in October 2009. I just did it last weekend and I only had out 2,600 miles on it. Any harm in that? I'm curious what info I can get from asking.

Out of warranty, I go 5,000 with quality oil and filter.

I use conventional valvoline, I was more curious about long time periods between like I just did.

Dads 08 silverado goes about 5k between changes using the oil change data readout thingy, lol.

3,000 for mine. Conventional oil. But then, my usage would be considered severe. Nearly all miles in bad conditions with heavy stop and go and mud/snow conditions.

Mobil 1 oil & K&N filter every 5000 miles for me. Mobil 1 also makes an extended performance oil that is good for 15,000 miles with 1 filter change halfway. The main reason for the 3 month change even if mileage is low is because of moisture in the oil. If the engine sits for long periods of time or is only driven short distances the moisture will not burn off and corrosion can set in.
