Long story short, my sister was in Myrtle Beach, SC few weeks ago. She HAD a 204 Chevy Cavailer, 2 door, 4 banger with like 20K miles. She rear ended a truck. Air bags deployed, hood is gone, front bumper gone, radiator gone, and I think the AC got damaged in the crash.
Insurance says its a total lose. But we have the option of buying the car back for less then $500. The problem there is its in Myrtle Beach, doing some researching it would probably cost only $100 or so to have a company move the car to use here in WV, the quote is $675 to move it here. So we will have like $1200 in it.
I was thinking, well we can part it out and make a few bucks in the end... but im not so sure after thinking about it all night at work... In my head i think we would be lucky to break parting it out even if we bought it back, and had it towed to us....
What are your alls thoughts? Think we could make a good ammount on parting it out, or get lucky to break even? Im thinking its not as good of an idea as i first thought. Too bad she didnt do this locally so there would be a huge towing bill, or a HUGE COST of us going down there, getting a hotel, food, etc, to get the thing.

I think I would just let it go to a scrap yard. I doubt a cavalier will have enough sought after parts on it to make it work the time and effort.

Ditto the above sentiments. There are too many cavaliers in the yards already for the parts to be in very high demand anyway.
