There are two best days in a boat owners life... "the day you bring it home and the day you sell it."
Wait until after you have stored it over the winter. Spring fever may get you in the mood for a road trip.

I've heard if said that a boat is just a hole in the water you pour money in.

I really think that it is exactly that! A boat and the wife's current "pool mod" (currently slowly killing me) is a mod that will run it's course in under 2 years.

I am somewhat biased, though. Being assigned to lake duty and wanting to do it is a little different. I went to work on a August morning or two knowing I would be in a boat for 8 hrs. Temps at 100* and a ball driven working K9 that was driven by fishing lures was more than I care to remember.

Maybe, dad bought his 17 foot pro-craft fish/ski 1 month before I was born, So the boat is 24 years old now

And runs great, had a few maintance jobs and break downs of course, but nothing major.. except an electrical problem that haunted us for a couple years and we FINALLY traced it down top a broken wire sealed inside the, if I recall right, ignition module?

If you have the time off, and money (even more so these days with gas), having a boat is great, can't beat a day on a lake with a fishing pole.

Now if its like a bayliner, or pontoon ill agree with the above. But a good fish/ski boat... best of both worlds, and if you love fishing, you have to have a boat :o

Now I have a 2003 Kawasaki Ultra 150 2 person 3 cylander 1200CC jetski, was the fastest production ski in its day, but it just isnt a lot of fun if you dont have any friends with a ski. I have seriously considered selling it to pay off my CC, but I can't bring myself to do it. Even though in the last 3 summers it was only put on the water once  (cause of lack of money, and gas prices)

But, by next year you will probably be able to still go to moad, just play your cards right ;)
