Don't limit your search if the '03s are like the '02s. Go to the hypertech site and get the part number for '03. My '02 works on the V-8's and the seller may not include the "4.3L " in his/her ad

Thanks guys I was looking at the JC Whitney catalog, it shows HPPIII for the 96-03 4 3L for $359.95. Also in the catalog there is a 15% coupon when you spend $200 or more, but according to the catalog the shipping is pretty spendy, like $25 bucks. I went on their web site and they advertise free shipping but couldn't find the HPPIII for the the 4.3 in the 96-03 but I don't know why I hadn't thought about ebay, going to check that.

HPP3 for sale

I have a HPP3 for sale for my 03' Crew, used about 3 times but have since gone to a Powerdyne SC and I ended up getting LS1 edit. Very easy to use, push button increase in power. Since Supercharged engines can't be advanced timing I couldn't use the HPP performance settings since it advances the timing. Good increase for the money, I paid 359.00, if interested e mail me.

Jeff
Thanks for all your research on the HPPIII, I really do appreciate it. I am not sure I want to buy something used over the internet. I don't feel real comfortable with that. I kind of feel like if I buy something like that used, it should be about 1/2 price and I would want to see if it actually works on my truck before I pay for it. It's not that I don't trust anyone but being from So Cal everybody here is trying to make a cheap buck off of everyone else. If I could get a deal like 1337vending I would jump all over it. I went on ebay and was looking around and the best price for a new one was around $350

Thanks everyone for your help, already ordered it from JC Whitney $325 to the door. I am a very impatient person, especially when my wife is starting to have second thoughts!

Yeah I did notice a difference, not so much from a standstill, like from stoplight to stoplight, but where I did notice the biggest difference in shift firmness and power is when I am on the freeway doing about 60-65 and I get behind somebody who's going slow and I want to go around them I just punch it and if I don't watch it I'll be up to 90 real quick. Before my engine seemed like it would just wind out when I floored it. Now it takes off quick. For some reason my gas mileage has gotten worse though
It couldn't have anything to do with a heavy foot could it

I had the same problem with mine when I had it set for the 93 tuning. Gas mileage sucked. Probably because I was having so much fun I couldn't keep my foot out of it. Now that gas prices are over $2 a gallon, I have the stock tuning programmed back in it. I'm thinking about trying the 87 tuning with 89 octane though. Not too much more expensive.

You should come to Iowa. Our government subsidises ethanol production so our mid-grade, 89 octane with ethanol is always the cheapest to buy...coincidentally I like it and use it always!! (And I run it in with my HPIII set for 87 octane with no problems). I actually tried the HPIII with 93 tuning and the 89 eth. blend and it made funny noises so I promptly set it back to 87 tuning.

Like I mentioned above, be patient and plug the HPP III and your needed part number into ebay every week or so and you will find one for $200. Join the other S-10 forums and check their classifieds. Once someone trades off or totals their rig the HPPIII will be for sale. Don't limit your search to 4.3L because they work on most if, not all vortec engines for your particular year truck.
