Off Road Extreme Camp Trailer

Post by HenryJ »

I have been interested in this for quite a while now, I'm just not "sold" on what exactly I want.
I had thought about one of the "pop-up" tent style trailers, but I'm not sure how well they would hold up. Most of my camping is in the warm weather so heat is not a problem.
The next idea was to restore one of those old "teardrop" trailers. This and the above would require modifying the suspensions and adding bigger tires of course.
Next idea would be to build from scratch. The possibilities are endless there.

I like this one - Outback Tear Drop Trailer
I wonder how air tight it would be? The desert clay can make things a dusty mess here.

This one looks good too-

...but I don't have any information on it other than "custom".

I looked at some I found on the internet that you can buy already built. Not too pricey (depending on options) but the wife figures we have a perfectly good tent downstairs so why spend the money? Women! They just don't get it!

Anyway, here's some:

You guys are seriously getting me interested in buying one of these...
I do a lot of camping in the summer, and I was going to buy the truck tent, but these look much much better!

Im actually thinking about building one if the price of aluminum and steel ever get back to reasonable prices. Even the price of Argon and helium for my welders has skyrocketed. I just got my 2 small tanks refilled, and it cost me $110.00 3 months ago it was $53.00

Hey, nothing wrong with popups! My parents had one when my sister and I were growing up and we had a lot of fun traveling around the country with it. I like the looks of the Fleetwood. Now you guys have me thinking about this! Too bad I can't afford one right now. :?
