Hey guys,
I am Bob Smith from Cleveland, OH. I discovered this page a few months ago and I have been keeping up with some of the posts. Well, I finally decided to join the forum. I posted some of the pictures of my truck in the photo section. I have a 2004 black ZR5...I have done a few mods to it in the few months that I have owned it, but I definately plan on adding some more fun things to it. So far I have added a Westin Safari Bar with 6" 100watt off-road driving lights, clear bumper lights, CB radio w/ PA installed within the center consule storage place between the two front seats, and a custom cat back dual exhuast with a V-Force muffler, 2.5" Stainless Steel pipes, and two 3" slash cut chrome exhaust tips.
In the near future I am going to get a cowl induction hood and new tail lights.
Are any of you guys located anywhere near Cleveland?? I look forward to hearing from you guys.

Welcome Bob!
Everyone here is very helpful with performing new mods, so what else do you want to do to your ZR5?

Have you got any pics of this setup you could share? I've been considering adding CB/PA but would like it to be as inconspicuous as possible.

I'll take some pictures of the cb and get them posted as soon as possible for you.

Here is how I installed my CB between the two front seats. You would never know that it's there unless you open up the center counsel. I attached the power to the fuse box and grounded it below the counsel. I attached the CB radio to the plastic bin inside the counsel with the bracket that came with it. I ran the power wire underneath the storage places, up and over the pedels, and into the fuse box. All of the wires are hidden and not visible. The ground wire is located just beneath the storage bin in where there are a few bolts holding the counsel in place. The PA speaker is located underneath the passenger side head lights above the bumper where it is not visible. I ran the wire out for the PA speaker into the engine compartment through the firewall on the passenger side where the Radio antenna goes out. The compartment lid can be closed completely with the CB mic sticking out. I hope this helps give you an idea on how to mount your CB. Let me know if you need any more help.

Pretty slick. Thanks. I've been wondering if I can get that CD storage compartment out and fit one in there. This looks like a viable alternative though.

Get ready, if you pull the CD storage box out, it's broke

Ditto but, in hindsight
I think you can pull the trays out under the armrest and gently squeeze the sides facing the doors and remove it. To be on the safe side, I would pull the whole console and try removing the screws from the inside holding the CD compartment halfs together.
But since mines already broke I find it handy to remove it and the rubber parts and toss them in the kitchen sink to clean.

I'm not too concerned about saving the cd storage thing. I hardly ever keep cds in there (usually in a cd pouch thing on my visor) and more often I'm twisting my wrist into an awkward position to retrieve coins that have fallen from the change holder down into the cd bin.
The biggest obsticle so far is how to mount a cb (or anything else for that matter) in the space and have it conveniently useable. For example, I won't be able to read the cb display panel at a glance while driving. This is all still very early in the planning stages.
