ifs why people hate ?
what is the deal with people not liking the ifs ? isnt the ifs just fine and doesnt it handle offroad good ? one last question if stuff on the ifs breaks with larger tires can the item be replaced with stronger components?

I like the IFS for the terrain that I have (desert rally) and don't really need tires any larger.
Rock crawlers and mud boggers are a different story.

Do some serious off-roading with some 4x4 clubs and you will soon find out. Yea, ditto what warn said. The S-10 IFS really aint that bad, as long as you are aware of it's weak pts. And if you don't do any serious off-roading, it's fine. And the rear flex of our S-10's almost makes up for the limited motion of the front end.

for stock DD, ifs is good and it delivers a good ride, BUT, the gm really dropped the ball on designing our front ends. any offroading with our trucks will cause our front ends to break sooner or later. its not that IFS sucks, its s-10 IFS sucks cuz its too weak. BUT, toyota ifs is the strongest out there. they even have a locker for it. you can run 33's and not tear it up at all. of course this is all considering you are trying to do some medium offroading where 31's to 33's are needed.
if you just street drive and put 30's or below on, you will never have trouble with IFS.
now, people who want to do some hardcore offroading hate STOCK ifs because it doesnt have enough articulation, and all but the toy dont have a locker. but even the toy with a locker is pushing it. to do hardcore you need solid axels. mabey down the road the stock IFS's will be stronger and can take lockers....
and isnt that pic that henerj posted a 2wd vehicle? this is 4x4 talk

i dont hate IFS, but stock IFS 4x4's from the big 3 just are strong enough to do medium offroading...thats all..
IFS design is great in theory. 2wd prerunners are cool and can take the abuse of fast desert racing....IFS has its purpose and is nesecary for some applications.
