US ARMY Reserves

Post by jflatley »

Hello,

I have just last week signed up for the United States Army Reserves.

I am college educated and have a very descent job. My wife also has a very descent job. I was at Ft. Meade yesterday for the entire day. 6AM arrival to about 1800 I left. Give or take.

After having to get a tattoo altered to cover nipples on my wife on my leg, I finally was able to sit down with a "Guidance Councelor" and talk jobs.

I am going in as an E-4, in the ARMY that is a Specialist. My MOS is a 21 E, which is the Heavy Equipment Operator. I can't imagine that these are going to be a whole lot different than the excavators and backhoes bulldozers that I operate now. Just a much larger machine.

I ship on the 22 September 2009 which is one day after my sons 2nd birthday. I am going to Basic at Fort Jackson, SC. Then to Fort Leonard Wood, MO for training.

Ft. Leonard (little Korea they called it when I was there) You just might be operating the same equipment you operate now. Case and Catipillar were the brands uncle sam bought back then. I was a combat engineer twenty sum odd yrs ago. 62B heavy equipment mechanic. Can I give you some advice...When you get back to your Reserve Unit, weekend drills and summer camp, no matter how bad your day is, whether it pertains to your family life or your unit, always be nice to your mechanics.

summer camp then on to lost in the woods. I went from Ft.sill to Lost in the woods (88m) I hate running but i do kinda miss Rollercoaster ridge and heartbrake hill.

had to chuckle I hadn't realized it was that long ago but it was the summer fall of 1995 almost 14 years

cool I was july-august 95 A btry 1/33 FA I don't recommend Oklahoma at that time of year it was stupid hot.

but in the same breath it was perfect in comparison to Ft.polk I did that from Oct 95 thru april 98 (minus a year in Bosnia) The Humiditty was crazy at times the air was so thick it was like breathing gravy YIKES!
