Strong til the day it died

Post by amxguy1970 »

Well I hadn't been on here in a long time, as everything we wanted done to the truck was done and didn't need anymore info on it (this truck was bullet proof and needed no new parts). I will get to the point though.

Last October our Yellow 02 GMC CC was totaled by a girl on a cell phone in the early morning hours. My dad was coming back from work (airtraffic controller) and as he was going through an intersection to the frontage road and a young girl in an altima turned into him and hit him for the most part head on. The turn is about 45 degrees as opposed to the usual 90 degree turns so she was carrying more speed the in a normal turn. Anyways, she was going about 30 and my dad slowed to about 35 when they hit. he turned her car around, ran over her front end and then they both went the same direction as my dad for about 50 feet before coming to a stop. Truck held up incredibly well, front end wasn't too bad visually but the force moved the rear end around, both front tires were almost touching the front fenders, the engine was against the firewell (it even bent the drive shaft). BTW, my dad was completely fine, just a little sore.

That truck was amazing though, we used it as it should. Had 90k touble free miles with the only thing being replaced was a right front CV axle. The truck was overloaded multiple times, taken off into fields to dump stuff, hauled and towed like a champ, and even pulled out some stuck trucks/cars. The yellow paint got compliments on it many of times, and road trips into the back roads of Colorado were no problem in the middle of winter. It was sad to see it go but was replaced with a new CC Colorado. Lots of memories, and plenty more to be had with the new truck!

Nice closure. It is fun to hear good stories now and then, even though this one had a sad ending.
Thanks for dropping in and sharing.
