Difference between Fleet and Sport side (Hitch question)

Post by melloyellow »

I know this is going to sound stupid but I don't know the answer. What is the difference between a fleet and a sport side truck? I am ordering a hitch P/N 81610 from Valley Industries. The one thing they say is "it will fit as long as it's a fleet side and not a sport side truck". So I just thought I would ask. :?:

I think sport side is a step side bed. Fleet side is a standard side bed.

Yep -- that's it.

Unless it's ford then you get a Flare-side, which is a step side, which is just their way of making things even harder to understand.....

What's even scarier is that I really like the looks of that new F150 Crew cab -- FX4 package and the 18 inch rims. But at $38,000 it's not hard to keep from buying one

Yikes! For $38K, you can get an F350 crew cab with a Powerstroke diesel, 8"+ lift, and 38's here in Phoenix. Granted...it's used...but still.

According to the installation instructions, that looks like the right one.
