Hello all,
I found a cheap used Hypertech programmer on ebay. I cant think of the model # right now, but it is the one that fits Chevy 4.3l trucks. Which I have, 2002 GMC ZR5 4.3l. Anyhow, it says on the manual to run premium gas with the performance tune. I have not tried it out yet, but have been running the regular tune with 87. Can I run the performance with regular gas? What will happen? Thanks.

The performance tune is set to take advantage of the higher octane rating. Using it without that fuel you may experience some engine knock and the resulting timing retard, negating any gains. Basically, you may see nothing but a little decreased mileage.
