Can I just install the homelink part in my present OH console where the garage door opener is suppose to go?

I would think so. IIRC all it needs is power and ground? Check out the trip computer thread. The connections may be listed. If not I am sure we can look them up.

i'm more worried about the panel and if I can just change it out with the door that's there. I want to put dynomat type of sound material on the inside of the roof panel and while the headliner is down I want to install the Homelink module. I have deadener throughout the rest of the truck and never did the roof, it sounds like a tin can when I slam the doors. You can't hear the power window motors run up and down, definitely one of the best mods I've done.

Physically it will fit. I swapped one into my console.
