He just gave it to me. Should I use it? I know I'd have it installed becasue I know I'm not going to mess with that stupid front diff! I know front lockers are usually a no-no on streetable vehicles. Check it out and tell me what you think. Would it be easier during turning than some other locking units? Does in make a difference if I'm not in 4Hi? Thanks.

The stock 7.25" front diff just won't handle the pressure of a locker.
The PowerTrax Lockright is especially harsh too.
Are you really sure He had one for a 7.25" carrier?
I have one for a 7.5" carrier w/28 spline side gears. They are fairly common.
It totally destroyed the dampening springs in the clutch on my old truck. It did really do well offroad , but I would NOT use one again for a streetable vehicle.

And we take a number of these broken POS units out of axles. Usually when they break it takes the ring gear and pinion, and if you are really lucky it breaks the housing as well.
We have done 2 Jeeps in the last month that have had these lockers. Both required new housings when the unit broke, and spit the little springs out. The spring gets caught between the ring and pinion, then breaks the bearing cap.
The springs on mine broke at some point. The pieces were there, but I would imagine in time damage could have been done.
I had the Lockright (powertrax) in my old S-10.
The one I had , I believe is still being used by the person I sold it to.
For offroad they are outstanding. It is the daily driven street duty that takes the toll.
Both the richmond Powertrax and the lockright Powertrax are the same style and function. I would use neither. Even a detroit locker is less harsh, and many times more predictable on the street.
