Hot feet fix II will stop the flow of air.stukapilot wrote:Completed mod over a month ago, still hot................
If you want to stop the coolant flow through the heater core you can add a valve.
I did all three.

Re: Hot feet fix......................
Does it matter which heater hose you tap??
If it does matter which one?? The one attached to the water pump or the one attached to the engine???
On my '02 is the color coding for the Tee mod the same as in your photos??

Re: Hot feet fix......................
Either hose will stop the flow. I use the one that was most convenient.
You can see my valve in that photo.
I assume the line colors were the same for all the crew cabs. The early conversions might differ?
Trace the lines if in doubt.

Re: Hot feet fix......................
With us here in Oklahoma setting records day after day above 100 degrees, my A/C works real hard. Just added refrigerant to it to make it ice cold but still is not as cold as I like it. I am going to try your valve mod this coming weekend. Like the idea of not having any hot water coming into the cab when it is this hot and the ability of controlling it when I do.
I did not have any of the other problems that would need the Hot Feet Fix mods.
Let you all know later how it works...

Re: Hot feet fix......................
Doing the Hot feet fix will move the door that is allowing the fresh air system to pass through the heater core. That will be a BIG help. Stopping the flow of coolant is not as big, but it is a little help. Hot feet fix two closes the fresh air door. It makes the system recirculate air all the time. Right now the MAX position on AC is the only way that happens. All three together maximizes the cool for sure.

Re: Hot feet fix......................
As hot as it has been here, 22 days above 100 in a row and counting with setting records along the way, I run the AC on Max all the time anyway.
Think I will do all of that this weekend and see if we get meatlocker temperatures in the CC.
I also have dark film on the windows too.

Re: Hot feet fix......................
HFFII won't be a priority if you run max AC anyway. HFF should help since you won't be running through the heater core during the heat removal.
The heater control valve will likely help the most.
You can just install a manually switched valve. Don't get one of the gate valve/screw type valves. The inline cable control 1/4 turn valves stay sealed better in my experience.

Re: Hot feet fix......................
I do like your idea of the vacuum valve on the heater core. That way it only allows water through to the heater core when the heat or defrost is applied.. Most winters it doesn't even get cold enough here to run the heater anyway.
BTW the hi temp today was only 98 with 2.5 inches of rain. Tomorrow hi is to be 104 again.

Re: Hot feet fix......................
I know where your coming from with the heat! I'm right next door in the Ozarks of Missouri. All I did was put a manual twist valve in the hose closest to the front over the fan, where I could reach it easiest. That shuts off the flow to the heater and all is cool. If I need defog or in the winter defrost , pop the hood , open the valve.okaussie wrote:I do like your idea of the vacuum valve on the heater core. Today starts the next run for the record. 100 and at least 101+ for the next 7 days and no rain.
As I posted before, I like the idea of being able to control the hot water from the dash. Too many times over the decades I have tried things that did not work because they would leak and this mod looks like it will not.
I am going to try it this weekend and let you all know how it works in the new desert terrain that used to be called Oklahoma..
