When are you doing this tow?

A tranny cooler should be your # 1 priority.

Some other things do do depending on how much time you have would be:

Flush out the Dex-Cool and replace with standard green coolant, and add a bottle or two of Redline Water Wetter.

Install a low temp (180*) thermostat.

EDIT, wow you sure are fast Brule.

In front of the AC condenser which is in front of the radiator.

Passenger side works best because that's where the lines and fittings are for the stock water to oil cooler in the radiator.

There are some pics around here somewhere. :?:

I know Brule (HenryJ) has some pics of his install.

Make sure you install the cooler so that the inlet and outlets are pointing up or sideways.

You don't want the fittings pointing down because that creates air pockets which will hurt cooling performance.

Camper wrote:I tow a 4500 pound........travel tailer with my 2002. No trans cooler or any other modifications. Owners manual says it'll tow 5000 pounds as is and it does. Have been towing regularly for the last 75,000 miles with this truck. Half the miles on this truck are with a travel trailer. I just got back from a...... 2000 mile round trip with no problems. Keep it around 65 MPH in 3rd at about 3,000 RPM down hill and on flats....... I do keep to the factory maintenance schedule.
