Oil cooler line fittings

Post by Jigg »

I need to move my oil filter and need to extend the lines a bit. I was figuring i could find some sort of coupling, cut the lines, add the coupling, more hose, then another coupling to finish it off. Does anybody know of a good place to get these parts, or see any problems with this setup?

Thanks!

Yeah, i've seen those, but they won't really work for what i'm tryign to do, as i need to move the entire assembly, not just the filter itself. (unless i'm not understanding how they work)

Here's a picture of teh fittings i was talking about:

Check that, i'd probably use somethign like this :

on each end of the split and then a length of hydraulic hose in between.

Thoughts?

My son broke the clamp on his fuel line when changing his fuel filter....rather then change the whole line we cut a peice off and took it to the local hardware store and they gave us some hose and a connector like this Image and two clamps....it worked out great.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work as long as the fittings will allow enough oil flow. Might be a good idea to use hose clamps, then maybe some sealant on the fittings.

Thanks for the input guys, i was definitely planning on using hose clamps, and the sealant is a good idea. I'm going to order the parts tonight, i want to try to do it this weekend so i can finally finish the newest Synergy Offroad product ;)

Edit:

I've been thinking about whether or not i'd be limiting oil flow by adding the brass barb into the mix. I've come to the conclusion that the ID of the barb for the 3/4" rubber hoses will easily be greater than the ID of the metal lines at the ends of the hoses. So i'll be fine, as the metal lines are definitely the limiting factor.
