200, 205, or 210hp
I said something about this before. But, I would like to get 10, 15, or 20hp out of my truck. I'm thinking Flowmaster 40 series muffler, K&N air filter and a Tornado Air System might get me started. JH68

IMO, The muffler/catback is worth more than the FIPK.
The stock muffler is extremely restrictive and it is always a better investment to get the exhaust out before stuffing more air into it.
My 3" cat back was under $200 w/ flowmaster delta flow, and a 4" SS tip.
I picked up the wheel spin off the line that I lost when I went to the 31" tires, so there must be an improvement in HP.
Personally, I'd save the money on the Tornado I'm still skeptical. Let someone else be a "Guinea pig"

I agree with Henry, I like the exhaust cat back system as well. Like him, I lost the wheel spin off the line till I added the cat system. Also I liked the Jet Stage 2 chip, worked real nice above 20 mph. I saw some nice power gains from 20 on. Also I've read,... tried but didn't fit.. headers.... (cause of the body lift).... anyway... Headers with the cat back system is a REAL NICE power improvement.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Good rule of thumb is if it's breathing in more, it's got to have more room to exhale too. An FIPK/cat-back combo should work well. You should get your 20 HP with those two.
IMHO...I wouldn't waste the money on the Tornado either.

Wow! I didnt see a gain. It just feels smoother.
The FIPK pack is around $250. I'm not quite ready to spend that. I might go for a K&N filter or just wait and save up for the FIPK pack. I talk to my mechanic. He thinks the FloPro or a glass pack muffers are just a good as the Flowmaster and cheaper. He gave me a price on the FloPro and the glass pack with tail pipe. I might go ahead and get the exhaust and save up for the K&N FIPK pack. JH68
I wish I could run glass packs around here, the cops would get me before I pulled out of my driveway. IMO, if you don't have the money for the FIPK, just cut out some squares in your air box on the other side of the engine. It will alleviate the 'restrictive' part, but won't drop the temp of the incoming air. Looking at the truck, it looks like the exhaust is the first place to start... My Z24 Cavalier 2.4L had a bigger exhaust flow!
HenryJ, can you give more details on your exhaust... under $200!!! I'm all ears. Lowest I found was $350 due to all custom work. I can't believe a 3" pipe would cost that much to bend and weld

3" Aluminized pipe, 3" in/out Flomaster Delta flow muffler, 4" SS straight resonator tip ,single piped out stock location. I believe it cost $185, I do quite a bit of buisness with this shop, so I'm sure they gave me a break.marks10cc wrote: HenryJ, can you give more details on your exhaust... under $200!!! I'm all ears. My buddy with the Highrider had his done the same a another shop for $195 (It was a little easier, since their shock is on the front side)
I'd say shop around, find a small shop that does good custom work

I just got duals put on yesterday. I have a co-worker that has a s10 blazer with 4.3L. He has duals with no mufflers it sounded pretty good. So, I done the same. I have to be honest it's a little louder than I wanted inside the cab. Put, on the outside it sounds pretty cool. I spent $188 for it all. I'm happy with it. JH68
