Removed stock rear flares

Post by Paco »

Probably has been posted, but If I remove the stock rear flares on my 03, will there be any holes exposed on the sides? Dont really care for the looks of the factory flares they stick out too much with stock tires. And does anyone have any pictures of the bed without any flares?

Yes...there will be holes in the sides of the bed. The consensus here is to get spacers for the rear to make it look more appropriate.

On a side note...welcome. Nice to see another Indiana person on here. :)

Thanks for the info. My truck spends most of its life parked in driveway, 2 years old, 13,500 miles. Ride motorcycle all the time, truck in winter. And dont like spacers. Guess Im gonna leave like that, and just close my eyes when I walk behind it.

You should reconsider spacers....many of us have been running them with no adverse effects. I've had mine on since I first bought the CC with no problems. You'll love the difference in the look they'll make.

Removed the stock flares and Im very glad I did so. Going to run the truck without the flares. The flares were rubbing agains the paint and had worn the paint in a few places. Not good here in the rust belt. I recomend that everyone remove the stock flares and junk them if they plan to keep the truck for any length of time. I was able to find plugs for the holes, and I painted them to match the truck and from 20 feet you cant even tell they are there. I might replace the plugs with a rubber bump strip (like on the doors, but thinner). Heck the truck even looks better from the rear and the sides.
