Rear end cover

Post by Tribecrist »

Does anyone have any good sources for rear end covers . I like the black and raised alum finned covers.

I know that Summit had some that a few people are running - but I don't remember any black ones.

Are these things easy to install? I mean, to you just unbolt one and bolt on the other? Or do you have to repack grease or anything like that??? :?:

1. drain gear oil
2. remove old cover
3. install new cover (/ gasget?)
4. refill gear oil

I guess you have a drain plug on your rear differential. Must be a GMC option.

Consider the benefits that an aftermarket cover can offer , when choosing.

Asthetics, cooling, offer reinforcement for an otherwise flexible third member, increase bearing lubrication, ease of service with fill and drain plugs, magnetic drain plug, to name a few.

yeah, the s-10's don't have those bolts around the perimeter that you loosen and let the oil drain out?

I got the SLP cover and painted it black with stainless steel bolts.

Now that I've lowered the truck you can hardly see it. I may sand off the edges of the fins to give it more attention.

How to is easy....When you remove the bolts the oil drains out in to pan ..clean it up.. apply gasket... install new cover...tighten bolts and fill it up.

could always go for one of these :-)

Click the pic for a picture on one that has been installed.

I don't think it would be durable at all - but for show it's kinda cool.

7.625" (7 5/8") it shares the same cover as the older 7.5" (7 1/2") differentials.
