Black Bowtie

Post by F9K9 »

I can't claim credit for this idea, it came from HenryJ. HJ knows that I have been trying to "tone" down my yellow school bus.

This is just a piece of black graphic vinyl applied over the existing gold bowtie. I used the wet application method but, understand that the dry method conforms better to uneven surfaces. :)

I think it looks pretty good :thumb:

I tried to do that by disassembling the factory bowtie. I wasn't pleased with the results.

That looks good with the theme that you have going :D

Carbon Fiber vinyl bowtie bought from Rogerbaby at ZR2.com This is one of the highest quality vinyl graphics I have ever seen. I definitely recommend his works.

That is good looking. Pete. I emailed Roger asking for a price but, would rather have a solid black one. Nothing against the "carbon fiber" craze, just don't want to branch out from the black. I may if I am not able to do the bowtie to suit me.

BTW, I grew up just south of you in Dayton and my best friend lives just off sr 48 on Pamela Sue :D

Thanks. Your black bowtie looks good too. Just curious, why are you trying to get a decal from Roger? Did yours not work out. It looks good in the pics. Anyhow Roger should be able to hook you up with any kind of decal you need.

I used to hate the grill on my s-10. Since day one, I have been on the lookout for a painted grill from an extreme. But since I put the decal over the bowtie, I think it looks much better. I think the solid black and the carbon fiber makes a great contrast to the plasticrome strip of the grill. Much better than the gold bowtie.

Your best friend (on Pamela Sue) and I live within walking distance. Small world.

Take care,
Pete

It is a small world. I realized that awhile back.:)

When I first emailed Roger I was incorrectly under the assumption the pic you presented was of an emblem and not graphics.

I do like the bowtie on my grille now but, through "pilot error" there is a little gold showing and and a wrinkle or 2. The other stuff that is on my truck, graphic wise, I did myself. On the driver's side, the bowtie is a little crooked and it drives me nuts.

I researched decal application for weeks before I got tired of a source stalling on applying mine and I just did it myself. It was my first and like all firsts, you are glad you did it and suddenly it is not so terrifying.

I just want to have a "back-up" plan if my "dry" application attempt goes awry for the black bowtie..
