I ended up having the wrong spark plug wire set so I went back to the truck shop that sold me the kit. He ordered the 10.4 Mill. race wires for the vortec engines. I'll be running those, new blaster coil, new msd 6a ignition, some nice $40 positive and negative battery terminals. All should be installed Friday. I will update on any moderate improvements.

wires were $130 but you can purchase 8 mill wires for $70
MSD-6200 ignition was $150
MSD-8231 blaster coil was $40
MSD-8877 wire harness was $29
I bought the wires at a local truck and speed shop. All MSD components I bought from www.Summitracing.com . type in the respected msd names and you will see the listing. The wiring harness is not needed but I highly recommend it if you ever want to switch to the stock ignition setup. In some sense, I spent around $350. I also bought some battery terminals for my optima yellowtop to dress up the wiring a little better. That ran $40

Sounds like ALT or voltage regulator--which I think is built into the alternator on our trucks anyway.
I have noticed that with several of the Chevy's I have owned.
When I was running my big multi-amp stereo setup--my particular amps didnt have a lot of power supply filtering built into them, and the ground looping from the whole electrical system was nothing short of impossible to correct.
I gave up and ripped it all out for a smaller powere 10" Bazooka.
