throttle blade mod, finally

Wow, can't believe what a big difference the throttle blade mod made. if anyone is waiting to pull the trigger on this mod, do it. So worth it and can't see any reason not to.

That is my only question, any one ever have any thing negative to say about thus mid after doing it?

low range was a little touchy in the technical stuff.

Sorry, what do you mean by "in the technical stuff".
My low range is definitely touchy now, but more in the gas pedal stuff lol.

Sorry. By technical stuff, I was referring to terrain. Tight, rough, terrain requiring slow calculated movement. The edge of a wash, side hill climbing over and around. Being careful on the skinny pedal can make a difference.
That was my only complaint.
Many have said the shield was there to promote more even mixing of the EGR gases. Have you done anything to assist that? I limited the introduction and added an ignition enhancer.
I did not fully believe this to be the whole reason for the throttle blade deflector. It was my belief that it was there to soften the throttle response.

I never traveled such technical terrain yet, but even working the gas and brake at the same time wouldnt give you the control you desired? I know that can be an art in itself with working an automatic transmission.

I cant remember what site I was reading this on, but I read that the throttle blade was like that to soften up the touchiness of the throttle, this was an afterthought on GM's part since they thought this vortec engine wasent suitable for there older targeted market, adding the blade on the throttle blade after they had finished specing the engine for the truck.

since I don't remember the site I read this on, im not shure if its reliable information.

Pretty sure that you might have read that here. Same thing as the stiffer return spring on the "sportier model" of the '66 Nova.
The other theory is for mixing EGR gasses. That one didn't make much sense to me.

Fyi... if any of you are fans of junkyard shopping, the throttle blade from a 4.8 v8 (silverado) is a perfect fit with no modification.
