235/75/15 = 30x9.5/15???

These two tiers seem really close in size - why do they make both of them?? Just wondering, I am sure there is a reason

They are close but not that close. For my brand tire there is a .6" diameter difference and .1" wider tread with another 2/32 deeper tread. Thats a good step between 31s and 235/75s. I couldn't fit 31's but wanted something bigger than 235/75s.

There might be more reasons but those are just the ones I see.
