New Guy....( T bar question )

Post by jeff@servicetransfer.net »

I'm new to this site. I have a 2004 S-10 ZR2. I just bought 31x9.5 for it and cranked up the torsion bar. So far I'm not having to much trouble with rubbing. I plan on adding a body lift in the future but I was wondering in the mean time will the cranked up torsion bar cause any problems beside needing an alignment? Thanks in advance for your help.

enhanced or accelerated ball joint wear.....but otherwise I think you're fine.

Welcome aboard!
A few questions. Some helpful and some just curiosity :mg:

You say 31x9.5 tires? I am unfamiliar with that size. 31x10.5-15 tires would be a stock size for a ZR2.

Do you have a BlaZer or pickup? GMC or Chevy?

It may be hard to find , but this discussion has come around a few times. There seems to be a pretty large variance as to whether problems arise.

Mine are maxed. By that I mean turned up to the farthest point that my suspension can still be correctly set for camber and caster. The adjusters are nearly touching the top of the crossmember in which they reside.
The ball joint concerns are valid. The stock ball joints for mine, a 2001 , were still the bad design. The lower ball joints failed really early. The redesigned ball joints (blue boot) have been doing fine the past 40k.
Driving habits , terrain, location, condition of the components , all may play a part in success or failure.

The best advice would probably be to not exceed the maximum Z height dimension, but adjust to it.
Check the stock information from our website for more on trim height specs. A search will yeild some more about how to measure and adjust.
