I got an estimate on a suspension.

Post by DiagnosisDirt »

For a 4x4 garage in my town they gave me an estimate of 65 $ an hour and about 4 to 8 hours to put a suspension lift in my crewcab.Does this sound reasonable to any of you ?, Also they wont do a body lift because of the liability with the driveshaft i think it was...
Anyone hear that line ?

???? a body lift shouldn't have anything to do with your driveshaft, it doesnt even touch the suspension.

I guess the estimate is about right but it will most likely take more than 4-8 hours so just plan on spending more.

Actually, I think they could be talking about they dont want to be responsible for putting on both a body lift and a suspension lift b/c the companies have warnings that the should not both be used (it doesn't really matter, just nobody wants to be blamed)

steering column, it was the welding of the steering column which was what they didnt want to do , but ive read that it wasnt necessary for most. But do I tell them that ?

it depends on the year of your truck

Mine did not require any modifacation and I have a 2000, the steering shaft extended itself. but my friends truck we had to bolt in a extender but that was very easy.

I would tell them that it doesnt require modifacation, if you get the body lift look through the directions and make sure, then show them that it doesnt require modifying.

Save some money...do the body lift yourself.

There is plenty of help here, and many "first timers" have done it successfully.

screw that shop!.....if they tell you something bogus like the BL with affect the driveshaft angle, then they dont know there ass from their face. i wouldnt let them touch my truck. 6 to 8 hours to install the lift???? which lift, the TM or SL? they are underbidding the project to get you to agree...then they will charge you more once your truck is torn apart and you are stuck

I concur with a2b
I also agree that nobody has failed on the install, however it did take someof us working on our own alot longer that it did those with help. So find a friend who is willing to work for beer .. I dont remmebr how long it took me but I think it was like 13 hours on my own for 10 of those hours... it wasn't hard though.. oh and CHECK ALL YOUR PARTS. BEFORE U START
