Shocks needed?
I am going to put in a 2" add a leaf and was wondering if the shocks needed to be changed? Also going to do the torsion bar crank.

Is that a trick question?
If you have the factory shocks, then yes you do need shocks.
They will not need to be longer though. A raise of 2" should still be well within the operating range of stock replacement shock absorbers.
By adding a leaf you are not increasing the length of the unloaded spring pack. You are just moving the normal operating range up.
Now if you add extended shackles , or change the whole spring pack, and want the increased articulation, then longer shock would be needed.
Longer shocks would also be needed for changes in the position of the shock mounting points, as happens with a SOA conversion.

Thanks for the info and no it's not a trick question. Didn't want to snap anything by over extending the shock. Not real sure if the shocks are stock or not bought the Truck used. One shock is yellow and one is black. I was also thinking of having Sears allign the front end after the torsion crank, do you think they would also do the crank if I asked them to.

I think if they are conserned with the liability issue , they may not. But if they are reasonable and knowlegeable, then I would think that it would be no big deal to them.
Can't hurt to ask if they can increase the front ride height a little by adjusting the torsion bar indexers for you.

I have some rancho rs5000 shocks leftover from when I put on my 2" superlift. They look pretty rough (they have tar splatters on them from a freshly paved freeway offramp) but were only on my car for less than 6 months. But they are sitting in my g-rage and if you want them I could sell them to you for really cheap.
If the above doesn't make sense the rancho's are made for s10's with 3 inches of lift, so they are great for a shackle and tbar crank.
